Riders from more than 10 countries will compete in the international 500 km marathon-baiga "Uly Dala Zhorygy"
For the first time in Kazakhstan, on the eve of the 5th World Nomad Games, the international marathon-baiga "Uly Dala Zhorygy" will be held from September 3 to 7, 2024.
It is expected that teams from more than 10 countries will take part in this large-scale sporting event - Iran, Turkey, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, the Russian Federation, etc.
In particular, the Kyrgyz team held a multi-day equestrian marathon to select the best racehorses to participate in "Uly Dala Zhorygy".
Vice President of the Equestrian Federation of Kyrgyzstan Manas Sultanov said that it is a great honor for the team from Kyrgyzstan to accept the invitation to participate in the Uly Dala Zhorygy marathon-baiga.
"As part of the preparation for the Kazakh steppe derby, a multi-day qualifying marathon "Kochmondor Zhurushu" was held over a distance of 300 kilometers. May luck accompany each team, and may there be as many winners as possible. I wish success to the most resilient and swift," said M. Sultanov.
The marathon-baiga starts on September 3 from the settlement of Botai in the North Kazakhstan region, where the horse was first domesticated more than 5 thousand years ago.
The national team of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic is also preparing to participate in "Uly Dala Zhorygy". The founder of the equestrian club "AMD Kavkaz" Akhed Makhov said that he received an invitation to participate in the Kazakh derby.
"It is especially important that the start will be given in the settlement of Botai, which is considered a sacred and holy place for all mankind. The team will be happy to visit these places, filled with legends and historical artifacts. Wait for us, Kazakhstan!" - noted A. Makhov.
The horse races will end on September 7 in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. Its winners will take part in the opening of the 5th World Nomad Games on September 8.
"Uly dala zhorygy" is a steppe laboratory for identifying strong breeds of horses.
