Four athletes in zhamby atu (horse archery) have been named who will represent Kazakhstan at the upcoming 5th World Nomad Games, which will be held in Astana this fall.
The top 10 athletes in Kazakhstan in zhamby atu took part in the selection, which gives direct tickets to the World Nomad Games. Archers competed in Hungarian, Asian, Turkic styles and in the zhamby style.
According to the results, Aitbek Sarybai took the 1st place, Abzal Tulybekov took the 2nd place, and Yeralkhan Aikoz won the last ticket. Let us recall that world champion Batyr Beksauyt received a direct ticket to the Games.
“The selection was very spectacular. I think that we will defend the honor of the country with dignity at the 5th World Nomad Games, we will make every effort to win,” said Yeralkhan Aikoz, a member of the national zhamby atu team.
Thus, the national team of Kazakhstan has been formed, which will take part in the 5th World Nomad Games in zhamby atu.
- Yeralkhan Aikoz - born June 5, 1998 in the village of Maibulak, Tolebi district, Turkestan region. Winner and silver medalist of the XVI World Championship 2021 in Tehran;
- Batyr Beksauyt - born August 8, 2001 in the village of Maibulak, Tolebi district, Turkestan region. Winner of 1st place in the Youth Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2021, gold and bronze medalist of the Asian Championship in Shymkent, gold and bronze medalist of the World Championship in China;
- Aitbek Sarybay - born on January 30, 1998 in the village of Maibulak, Tolebi district, Turkestan region. Winner and bronze medalist of the XV World Championship 2019 in South Korea, silver medalist of the World Championship in China;
- Abzal Tulybekov - born on October 31, 1996 in the Almaty region. Winner of the World Championship in Zhamby Atu 2018.
At present, the athletes are at a training camp, which started on August 6 in the foothills of the Alatau, and will last until August 18. The training camp was organized by the Center for National and Equestrian Sports of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"Our national team is preparing at a high level. I can say that we are 70-80% ready, but there is still work to do. Four of our athletes have received a ticket to participate in the 5th World Nomad Games, we are working with them intensively. The World Nomad Games are like the Olympics among our national sports," said the head coach of the national zhamby atu team, Yeldos Badashev.
The final training camp before the 5th World Nomad Games will be held in Astana from August 27 to September 7.
