The Central Communications Service Told about the Progress of Preparations for the 5th World Nomad Games
Today, the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a press conference on the progress of preparations for the 5th World Nomad Games. The press conference was attended by Vice-Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Maratovich Zharasbaev, Head of the Directorate for the preparation and holding of the 5th World Nomad Games Nayil Faridovich Nurov, Vice-President of the Association of National Sports Tastanbek Kutzhanovich Yessentayev.
Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zharasbayev began his speech with the interim results of preparations for the Nomad Games.
“First of all, I would like to inform you that today the composition of the organizers and co-organizers of the Games has been finally determined, which, in addition to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, includes the World Ethnic Sports Confederation, the Organization of Turkic States, and the Association of National Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On April 29, UNESCO Headquarters confirmed its patronage of the 5th World Nomad Games. On June 20, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between UNICEF (UN Children's Fund) and the Directorate for the preparation and holding of the 5th World Nomad Games, within the framework of which UNICEF was awarded status of the official partner of the 5th World Nomad Games,” said Serik Zharasbaev.
According to the Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, most sports facilities are ready to host large-scale competitions. Major repairs are underway at the Alau Ice Palace and the Astana Arena stadium, scheduled to be completed on August 15. Construction work at the Qazanat Hippodrome will be completed in July.
According to the decree of the Head of State on the need to reduce costs for organizing the 5th World Nomad Games, in connection with large-scale spring floods, many changes were made to the Games program. The duration of the Games was reduced by one day. Now they will take place from September 8 to 13. The number of participants and countries has also decreased. Let us remind you that 4,000 participants from more than 100 countries were previously expected to participate. Now the plan is to have just over 2,000 participants. To date, 89 countries have officially confirmed their participation in the Games. It became known that this year the following countries will take part in the World Nomad Games for the first time: Brunei Darussalam, Liberia, Venezuela, Ireland, Dominican Republic, and Gambia.
Korean wrestling Ssireum was excluded from the sports program. Weight categories in some sports have also been reduced. In addition, the section on demonstration performances, consisting of 10 sports, was completely excluded from the Games program, except for “Uly dala zhorygy”. At the same time, at the urgent request of the leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as at the request of the leadership of the Republic of Tatarstan, the sports program additionally included competitions in two sports: the Kyrgyz game Kok Boru and the Tatar belt wrestling “Koresh”.
“We took all measures to optimize costs and saved 1.7 billion from the original budget. However, we are actively working to attract Kazakh and foreign companies as sponsors of the event to hold the 5th World Nomad Games in Astana at a high level,” said the Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports.
The Head of the Directorate for the Preparation and Holding of the 5th World Nomad Games, Nayil Nurov, announced the General Partner and Sponsor of the 5th World Nomad Games. Halyk Bank JSC will act as the General partner of the 5th World Nomad Games. The electrical engineering company ALAGEUM ELECTRIC will act as the General Sponsor of the 5th World Nomad Games.
“The funds allocated by partners and sponsors will be used to pay prize money to the winners and prize-winners of the competition, the total amount of which will be 253,250,002 tenge, as well as to purchase air tickets for Games participants, build award areas, produce commemorative medals and certificates, etc.” - said the head of the Directorate.
Nayil Nurov presented the medals that will be awarded to the winners and prize-winners of the 5th World Nomad Games: “The medals are made in a special style, symbolizing the unity of all sports competitions into a single Shanyrak - a symbol of the unity of the people of Kazakhstan. The solar symbol on the medals is associated with the sun, vital energy, and forward movement. The horseman depicted on medals traditionally symbolizes movement, pursuit of goals, and victory. The medal ribbon is the color of carnelian, a reddish-orange mineral that symbolizes energy, motivation, and perseverance. Carnelian is associated with vitality and positive energy.”
Vice-President of the Association of National Sports Tastanbek Yessentayev noted the important work done in the sports field:
“During the World Nomad Games, 370 judges officiate in 21 sports. Also, two comprehensive scientific groups were created, consisting of leading scientists – veterinarians, biologists, geneticists, sports psychology and medicine specialists – to monitor the functional and psychological state of athletes and sports horses competing for the country’s national team at the 5th World Nomad Games.”
