CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE INTO THE SPORTS PROGRAM OF THE 5TH WORLD NOMAD GAMES
The sports program of the 5th World Nomad Games has been reduced. Also, demonstration performances in national sports were excluded from the Games program.
A meeting on preparations for the upcoming Games was chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 5th World Nomad Games Roman Sklyar.
It was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Marzhikpayev, the head of the Directorate for the preparation and holding of the 5th World Nomad Games Nayil Nurov, as well as heads and representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the akimat of Astana.
The Head of the Directorate, Nayil Nurov, spoke in more detail about the progress of preparations for the Games, as well as the implementation of the order of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to sequester the budget.
Let us recall that Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, taking into account the difficult flood situation in a number of regions of the country, instructed the Government, central state and local executive bodies to refuse to hold image-building and other major events in order to save budget funds.
“I cancelled a major international forum to save money. We will reduce the costs of the World Nomad Games. It is not possible to cancel such an event, but the budget will be significantly reduced. In addition, the budget for our country’s holding and participation in the World Exhibition in Tokyo will be reduced,” the Head of State said at the meeting with residents of Northern Kazakhstan evacuated due to floods.
In connection with the instructions of the President, the Directorate for the preparation and holding of the 5th World Nomad Games made proposals for changes in the sports program.
Thus, the dates of the Games have been reduced by one day. The event will take place from September 8 to September 13 inclusive.
Competitions in the sport “Ssirym” have been completely excluded from the sports program. 4 weight categories out of 12 were excluded from Mas-Wrestling. Medals will be competed in 5 weight categories among men and 3 among women. The “kokpar” competition will be held over three days instead of the planned six. The number of weight categories in “Alysh” wrestling has been halved. The “Kurash” wrestling competition was also reduced by 3 weight categories. The “Arkan Tartys” competition will also be held in only one women's and one men's weight category.
Also at the meeting, uniforms of volunteers, the organizing committee, judges and staff were presented.
